Leadership Workshops

Leadership Workshops

This workshop will introduce participants to the whole-school Friendly Schools PLUS initiative. It focuses on Evidence for Practice and the success of the whole-school process for the prevention of bullying, highlighting social and emotional learning.

This workshop provides leaders with the opportunity to address the following questions:

  • What is our whole-school vision?
  • What does the research tell us?
  • What are the common understandings and competencies for
    • Social and emotional learning
    • Bullying prevention
  • What do evidence-based policies and practices look like?
  • How might we build our leadership capacity to make this work?
  • Through "Map the Gap", what are our successes and challenges?
  • What key actions might we need to take as a leadership team?
  • What are the seven steps for whole-school improvements?

Teacher's Workshop

Teachers' Workshop

In this one-day workshop teachers will be introduced to the research evidence to support the whole-school Friendly Schools PLUS initiative and will focus specifically on social and emotional learning using the classroom teacher resources and toolkits.

This one-day workshop is specifically designed to support teachers in understanding social and emotional learning to help reduce the incidents of bullying. Teachers will:

  • Explore research-based evidence for classroom teaching and learning
  • Develop common understandings and language
  • Be introduced to high leverage bullying prevention strategies.
  • Learn how to utilise teacher resources to support teaching and learning approaches

$330 (inc GST) per day

Evidence for Practice Institute

Evidence for Practice Institute

This action learning based training is designed to provide intensive support for school leadership teams to plan for the implementation of the Friendly Schools PLUS initiative. Teams will work collaboratively over six days to plan for a sustainable school culture for the prevention of bullying through a focus on social and emotional learning.

Participants will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the "evidence-based approach to whole-school improvement" model including;
    • Evidence for Practice
    • Capacity and leadership
    • Whole-school-process
  • Assess the readiness for implementing the key attributes of this model
  • Utilise the "Map-the-Gap" tool to ascertain the needs of the school and to provide them with a model to take back to school

Use tools to clearly design an action plan pertinent to school needs and to ensure small victories

  • Reflect upon the school’s successes and challenges to set future directions
  • Investigate the research on what to expect when re-culturing schools in relation to whole-school implementation
  • Develop an understanding of how the resources can be explicitly used to support classroom teaching and learning approaches
  • Set achievable actions and make collective commitments to next steps through a community of practice

Agency Training

Agency Training

This two-day training is designed for any staff member who is interested in providing school-based professional development to their staff on the Friendly Schools PLUS initiative. Participants will receive ready-to-use training materials, including PowerPoint and training notes and their own copy of Evidence for Practice.

This training is prerequisite for anyone interested in becoming a FSP Training Associate for Hawker Brownlow Professional Learning Solutions.

$800 (inc GST)

  • Links with Australian Curriculum
  • The whole-school practices and 'Evidence for Practice'
  • The Classroom Teacher handbooks and toolkits and classroom practice
  • Practical activities and strategies for integration of social and emotional learning into the curriculum
  • Getting started - Activity to review of their own current whole-school practices and how to plan for action.
